Wow, I never even knew "the Three Penny Opera" was adapted into a film. Thank you!
Hi, Lenny
See you
Ojalá gelo pueda traducir estos datos, jeje.
Hi, Lenny
Die 3 Groschen-Oper, the wonderful musical by Brecht-Weill, does not only have an English movie version (produced by Menahem Golan in 1989 with a marvellous cast) but also the following ones:
- Die 3 Groschen-Oper (Georg Wilhelm Pabst, 1931) with two versions from the same year, one in German and another in French with different casts.
- Ópera do Malandro (Ruy Guerra, 1986): This is an adaptation made by Chico Buarque, inspired in the Threepenny Opera. This one has two versions: the movie soundtrack and the theatre musical cast. They have some songs which are different. These two appear in this blog. :)
Let's remember that both Brecht and Weill based themselves in "The Beggar's Opera", an 18th century musical by John Gay.
See you
Thanks, my dear friend!!
Coming soon Die 3 Groschen-Oper... in German!!
Danke.
