Light Years is about a father and son and the space between them. It is about loving each other even when we don’t understand one another. It is about celestial illusions and lobsters on leashes and deaf ears that talk back. It is about musical gifts that give voice to haunted pasts. About forgetting, and remembering, and being lost. And being found.
These songs, having been the first to be found, are as good a place to start as any. And while they’ll undoubtedly do some shape-shifting by the time Light Years opens, this is how they sound right now in my head--if there were a killer nine-piece band with backup singers in my head. Which, more often than not, seems to be the case these days.
