WEST SIDE STORY

For the Original London Cast recording of West Side Story only four tracks were released on an EP. Don McKay and Marlys Watters recorded Maria, I Feel Pretty, One Hand One Heart and Tonight. The original musical director Leonard Lawrence recorded an album with George Chakiris who played Riff in London together with other studio singers. This album featured much of the dance music. Music for Pleasure (MFP) also recorded an album conducted by renown West End musical director Alyn Ainsworth. This album featured performers who had appeared in WSS having “taken over” roles when the original cast had left. David Holliday (Tony) Jill Martin (Maria) Mary Preston (Anita) and Tony Adams (Riff). This compilation brings together all of these artists to create a “London Cast Recording”. The sources of these tracks vary, so the quality and sound may be inconsistent. Enjoy!
