Lester Lanin (1911-2007) was the youngest of ten sons born into a Russian Jewish immigrant family. Among his many accomplishments as a society dance band leader, he played the music at inaugural balls at the White House through nine presidencies, starting with Eisenhower. This album, recorded in 1967, highlights the discotheque era and even has an LP copy of The Beatles Hard Day's Night on the cover. Of the tunes covered here are nice versions of Georgy Girl and Up Up And Away. Other tunes include Somewhere My Love, Mame, I Will Wait for You, A Man and a Woman, Impossible Dream, Strangers in the Night, On a Clear Day, The Shadow of Your Smile plus two more.
