Music: Arjen Anthony Lucassen
Lyrics: Arjen Anthony Lucassen
Performer: Arjen Anthony Lucassen
Description: Arjen Anthony Lucassen is certainly well-known for his elaborate Ayreon rock operas and his Ensemble casts always full of illustrious guest musicians from around the world. But with his recent release, "Lost In The New Real" Arjen decides to embark himself on a solo career: He sings all lead vocals and plays most of the instruments himself. Lost In The New Real contains a series of contrasting styles like prog, rock, folk, metal, industrial and even pop and must therefore be no less than called Arjen's hitherto most complex work. As you would expect from Arjen, Lost In The New Real is a concept album. The story follows Mr. L, a man of the 21st century, who was cryopreserved shortly before his clinical death by a fatal disease. The album begins with the fact that Mr. L is revived in the distant future, as the technology is so advanced that you can cure his disease. Mr. L is found in a world that has changed dramatically - even to the extent that the boundary between reality and fantasy are no longer clearly defined. He needs a psychologist to help him adapt emotionally to the strange new world. The lines ??spoken by the psychologist belong to legendary actor Rutger Hauer, who played in Blade Runner, Sobibor, Batman Begins, Sin City. On a conceptual level, Lost In The New Real is dealing with many controversial issues such as censorship, birth control, euthanasia and religion.
