Notes: The two Norwegian rock stars, singer Jorn Lande and guitarist Trond Holter (aka Teeny from Wig Wam), have jointly launched a new rock opera album that goes a long way with the life of Count Vlad III, Prince of Wallachia known as Vlad the Impaler or Count Dracula. The whole story deals with the multifaceted character from the 15th century, as well as taking into account some aspects such as the myth of the vampires.
On the album, Jorn Lande, who plays the main character Dracula, shares the lead vocals with the Norwegian singer Lena Floitmoen (representing Mina / Lucy from the Bram Stoker book). The duets show Dracula and his wife, who is Mina in the original Bram Stoker story (when he was human before he sold his soul to the devil and became a vampire).
Musically, Swing Of Death is not a typical rock opera or musical music because there is no narrator or long instrumental parts or intros. It is an album that gets straight to the point and although it travels through several different musical landscapes, it contains catchy and melodic songs with commercial radio potential. The musical influences mostly come from Meat Loaf and Queen with a hint of Alice Cooper with some more classic and contemporary hard rock elements. The lyrics are not limited to the old Bram Stocker era but could easily be a Dracula story from today.
There are already plans to perform the entire rock opera in Norwegian theaters. More details will be announced later.
