Notes: Phantom is based on American playwright Arthur Kopit's same-titled work, a musical adaptation of French novelist Gaston Leroux's The Phantom of the Opera. Different from Andrew Lloyd Webber's Broadway smash hit, it focuses on the infamous opera ghost's mysterious past. Following its successful premiere in 2015, the Korea remake returned to stage with a new lineup at the Blue Square Samsung Card Hall in Seoul from November 26, 2016 to February 26, 2017. Played alternatively by Park Hyo Shin, Park Eun Tae and Jeon Dong Seok, the Phantom is a ghost called Erik, who hides in the basement of the Opera Theatre in the late 19th century. Fascinated by the angelic vocals of young soprano Christine (Kim Soon Young, Kim So Hyun and Lee Ji Hye), he decides to make her into a new opera diva and trains her every night. Consumed by jealousy and resentment, the opera house's lead soprano Carlotta (Jeong Young Ju and Shin Young Sook) ruins Christine's debut stage. Fuming over Carlotta, Erik hatches a horrible revenge plan to teach her a lesson.
The soundtrack of Phantom collects 24 of the musical's major numbers by Maury Yeston, including "Home" and "You Are My Music" by Park Eun Tae and Kim Soon Young, Park Eun Tae's "Where in the World" and Kim Soon Young's "The Bistro."
This edition comes with a 124-page booklet, a Phantom paper toy and a bonus DVD with music video and highlights of The Story of Erik with ballet performances by co-stars Kim Joo Won, Hwang Hye Min, Ohm Jae Yong and Yoon Jeon Il.
