Nine-year-old Oliver flees from hunger and fear of being beaten from an orphanage in his native town to London. There he wants to try his luck. Instead, he falls into the hands of a gang who trains boys like him to become thieves. In a robbery, he is caught and taken to court by his victim, who forgives and receives him. Finally, Oliver seems to have found a home. But the gang of thieves does not give up that fast and threatens him and his rescuers ...
