In "Bis nach Meppen," an American family travels to the Emsland town in search of their ancestors. During their stay in a hotel on the market square, they learn not only about many "Meppen originals," but also about stories and anecdotes about the town – and ultimately, they also track down their ancestors. The story is a joint work of Jens Menke and Michael Potthast. The latter was also responsible for the compositions and vocals. The lyrics are by Florenz Potthast. Timo Knifka, who played the string instruments, and Eugene Schulte on drums also participated.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the musical unfortunately cannot be performed on stage at the moment; however, thanks to the CD release, it doesn't have to be completely abandoned. Michael Potthast is certain: "Due to its subject matter, this musical works just as well on CD, independent of the plot." For example, listeners learn about the Jesus Girl from Esterfeld, the Dwarf House, and the well-known actor Hermann Lause, a native of the town. A city tour in the song "I'll Show You Our Town" takes a stroll through the city center. And "Up to Meppen" is a homage to the town and its inhabitants.

Thanks a lot, TIA ANTONIA!!!
