West Side Story opened on Broadway on September 26, 1957 at the Winter Garden Theater,
transferred to the Broadway Theater on March 2, 1959,
transferred back to the Winter Garden Theater on May 11, 1959,
and closed on June 27, 1959 after 732 performances.
After touring, it reopened at the Winter Garden Theater on April 27, 1960,
transferred to the Alvin Theater (now the Neil Simon Theater) on October 24, 1960
and closed on December 10, 1960 after 249 additional performances,
for a total of 981 performances.
